Hanging light fixtures enhance the garden work area, outdoor living space or anywhere in the home. Flower petal lamps add a whimsical decorative accent to any of these spaces. These types of lamps act like a pendant lamp, suspended from the ceiling by a chain.
Below are some basics to decorate your backyard garden by installing the flower petal lamps. If you have decided to enhance the look of your garden with these superb lamps, make sure you are well equipped with necessary items like hammer, stud finder, stepladder, pencil, drill, protective eye wear, metal hook with anchor, pliers, soft rag and chain.
Decide the place where you want to hang the lamp. However, it is advisable to choose a place that is already having an electrical outlet nearby.
Set your stepladder firmly on the floor, and use a stud finder to locate a wood support beam in the ceiling. Make sure to use a drywall anchor screw that opens inside the wall for added security. Mark the proper location with a pencil.
Check the size of the anchor attached to the metal hook. Choose a drill bit with a slightly smaller width than the screw size. Wear protective eye wear before drilling to prevent sawdust and wallboard from falling into your eyes.
Bore a hole in the ceiling stud using the drill machine. Make sure you create a hole of distance just half the length of screw. Take the drill out the remove the drywall flakes.
Now, prepare for the flower petal lamp. You need to screw the plant hook. Doing so enough space would be available so as to locate the anchor while installing the lamp in the ceiling. Properly screw the hook however, it is advisable to prevent over tightening it. An old rag is then used to cover the hook. Now, tighten the hook flush to the ceiling with the pliers. Wipe off any sign of dirt and dust.
At last, you just need to connect the chain with the plant hooks and the top of the flower petal lamp as well. Now, only thing left is to accustom the chain according to the height of the lamp you desire. With this, the installation ends here.
