The most common type of glue that is used by modelers is glue for plastic. It comes with two varieties, the thick plastic glue and the thin plastic glue. Both types of glue for plastic are capable of dissolving plastic. As a result, the plastic gets welded together which makes a very strong bond. Other type of glues that can be used for plastic are cyanoacrylat glue, Polyvinyl acetate or popularly known as white carpenter’s glue and epoxy glue.
Among all the choices, the most used type of glue for plastic is the thin plastic glue. Most modelers use the thin plastic glue except when they have to piece together large pieces of plastics. There are two types of containers for thin plastic glue, the one with a needle and the one in glass. The advantage of using the needle type container is you have more control on how much glue you need to apply while the glue in glass is applied using a brush. You can use the same glue that is being used in a needle type container for glass thin plastic glue. The needle type is recommended if you will only be using a small amount of glue while the other one is used if you need to use a large amount or if you need to apply glue in a large area.
For gluing very large seams or materials, the thick plastic glue is recommended. This glue for plastic should not be applied directly from the tube to avoid too much glue applied at the same time. What you can do is squeeze a small amount to a ceramic tile or other container not made of plastic and use a stick for application. The use of a filer is also recommended. Sometimes, stringer glue can harm your plastic models so make sure that you handle with caution.
